KOMPETENSI GURU MATA PELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN BAHASA INGGRIS DI MADRASAH ALIAH NEGERI 2 HULU SUNGAI UTARA

Abstract


According to Minister of National Education Regulation Number 16 of 2007, teachers are required to master four main competencies, namely pedagogical, personality, social and professional competencies. This research aimed to identify the competency level of English language teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 2 Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU), which includes pedagogical, personality, social and professional competencies. This research used a survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach. The research population was five English teachers at MAN 2 HSU. The samples taken in this research were all English teachers at MAN 2 HSU. Data was collected using a questionnaire or questionnaire, and analyzed quantitatively to obtain an average value (mean). Based on the research results, the average pedagogical competency score was 79.72, which is included in the good category according to the Teacher Performance Assessment Criteria (with a score range of 76-90). The average personality competency score was 94.67, including the very good category (range of scores 91-100). The average score for social competence reached 84, included in the good category. Meanwhile, the average professional competency score was 82.86, also in the good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the English subject teachers at MAN 2 HSU have met the teacher competency standards in accordance with Permendiknas Number 16 of 2007. This can be seen from the scores obtained in the four aspects of teacher competency, where personality competency is in the very good category, and the other three competencies are in the good category.
