Peran Kepala Sekolah Terhadap Kompetensi Kepribadian Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam di Sekolah Dasar Negeri Sungai Turak Hulu Sungai Utara

Abstract


This study aimed to describe the role of the principal in relation to the personal competence of Islamic Education teachers at Sungai Turak State Elementary School, Amuntai Utara District, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach. The subject of the study was the principal, while the object of the study concerned the principal’s role in enhancing the personal competence of Islamic Education teachers at Sungai Turak State Elementary School. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were processed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and data verification, and were then analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method. The findings of the study showed that the principal’s role in supporting the personal competence of Islamic Education teachers at Sungai Turak State Elementary School, Amuntai Utara District, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, consisted of two main functions: as a manager and as a motivator. First, in the managerial role, the principal held regular meetings at the school, including discussions on teacher competencies, particularly those aimed at improving strong, stable, and mature personal competence. Second, in the motivational role, the principal motivated and encouraged teachers to collaborate in continuously improving their competencies, especially their personal competence.
