KONTRADIKSI PERSPEKTIF FUQAHA KONTEMPORER TERKAIT MAKNA FI SABILILLAH SEBAGAI MUSTAHIQ ZAKAT (Studi Komparatif Antara Yusuf al-Qardhawi dan Wahbah az-Zuhaili)

Abstract

The occurrence of differing perspectives between two prominent scholars, both of whom have a significant influence on contemporary jurisprudence, regarding the interpretation of 'fi sabilillah' as a category of zakat recipients. Practices in society heavily depend on opinions that are relevant to local conditions. This research aims to identify the comparison of thoughts between the two figures concerning which perspective has greater benefits and is more suitable for the community environment. The research hypothesis is that the interpretation of 'fi sabilillah' in a broader connotation is more valid and in sync with societal conditions in the present era. The conclusions drawn by Yusuf al-Qardhawi, who interprets 'fi sabilillah' in a broad aspect as supported by the opinions of the majority of contemporary scholars, whereas Wahbah az-Zuhaili interprets it in a narrow aspect, tends to align with the opinions of earlier scholars. The relevance of the broader meaning is indeed more appropriate for community conditions.
